Outdone by Rocks? Finding Purpose in His Plan

writeWhat gifts or skills has God given to you that have been put aside due to your illness? Kay shares.

“’I tell you,’ he replied, ‘if they keep quiet, the stones will cry out'” (Luke 19:40).

In the early days of being ill with fibromyalgia in 2001, the Lord impressed upon me this scripture;

“Then the Lord replied: ‘Write down the revelation and make it plain on tablets so that a herald may run with it. For the revelation awaits an appointed time; it speaks of the end and will not prove false. Though it linger, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay'” (Habakkuk 2:2-3).

My belief is that God gave me that scripture in Habakkuk because He made me. He knew that writing is not just a hobby for me, it’s not a way to try and make a living, it’s not a way to try to impress anyone . . . It is the way in which I best cope with life, and in the process give Him the glory He deserves.

For going on fourteen years now, I have been reminded to “make it plain on tablets so that a herald may run with it.” For years I have thought that meant that the Lord had something more specific He was telling me He wanted me to write or write about. For instance a specific book, etc.

I am coming to the conclusion that, once again, I have limited an unlimited God. He has so much more in mind for us than we could ever think or imagine (See Ephesians 3:20-21).

Illness can become our motivation to glorify God all the more –or it can become the chink in our armor that leads to despair and defeat. We have that choice. We always have that choice.

If we don’t glorify Him, the rocks will (Luke 19:40). I for one do not want to be outdone by rocks! How about you?

Prayer: Father, I thank You for who You are. I thank You that You give us everything we need, not only to cope with our illness, but to give You glory while doing so. Help us to never lose sight of Your unfailing love for us. Help us to seek You and Your goodness and to choose to glorify Your name in the midst of all of our circumstances. In Jesus Name, Amen.

What skills or gifts has God given you that have helped you cope with your illness and in the process brought glory to the Lord?

This is Unspoken singing “Start a Fire.” If you are hoping that there is something more and hoping that God will use you help someone or create some joy, listen to this song. It is a beautiful song that reminds us God can start a fire in our soul even when we think we are too tired to do anything. -Lisa
