Easter is something those of us with chronic illness can whole-heartedly embrace because it’s all about hope and miracles. Kerryn shares.
“And if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of His Spirit who lives in you” (Romans 8:11).
Every Easter I’m awed by the magnificence of what Jesus Christ did for me!
I can’t dwell for long on the atrocities that were inflicted upon Jesus as He went to the cross–willingly!
The gruesomeness portrayed in films about the crucifixion must have been even more horrific than Hollywood portrays. It’s too awful for me to watch on film. So I can’t imagine being Mary, the mother of Jesus, watching her son go through this barbaric torture.
Yet it happened! We can’t turn away from the truth of what Jesus did on the cross for us.
Good Friday brings such a heaviness of heart for me, but it also brings hope. Unlike the disciples and Jesus’ family, we know what happens next. Hallelujah that Jesus is raised from the dead on Easter Sunday!
It’s huge, exciting, transforming, miraculous and so much more. What I think is just as amazing is that the same “Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you.”
How extraordinary is that?! Can you grasp the enormity of that section of the verse?
How phenomenal that “He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of His Spirit who lives in you.”
The spiritual realm has trumped the natural realm, not only in Christ, but also in each one who believes. This is unprecedented.
Jesus brings us victorious life-giving freedom for our souls and our bodies. Hallelujah! Yes, it’s explaining that we will be with Him in heaven, but it also means coming alive here on earth.
Brothers and sisters, let’s celebrate not only that Jesus was raised from the dead, but that we are too. Let’s take time to contemplate the awesomeness of this and praise Him.
Prayer: Thank You, Lord, for taking my place as the sacrificial lamb, slain for my sins. Praise You for the victory over sin and death in my life. Pour out Your Holy Spirit upon me now to release victorious freedom to resuscitate my soul. Hallelujah! Amen.
