Our site had a few hiccups in posting this week and I didn’t catch it in time. My apologies! But… you get a bonus and will receive (Lord-willing) those 2 missing devotionals today and tomorrow. Thanks, friends. Lisa
Circumstances can be the spiritual bullies in our lives if we allow them to intimidate them. Karlton reminds us to stand up to whatever is bullying us.
“…defending the fatherless and the oppressed, so that mere earthly mortals will never again strike terror” (Psalms 10:18).
When my dad and maternal uncle were boys, my dad noticed that my uncle was getting badly bullied by another boy. Dad taught my uncle how to fight and defend himself. My uncle was able to both defend himself and defeat the bully.
Many of us are weak in different ways, and we need to look out for each other. You may not be able to teach someone how to physically fight, but perhaps you can teach them how to pray, and pray for them. You could witness to them about how the Lord has helped you through tough times, and encourage them to stand strong.
When we join together as believers, we are stronger, and can put up a united front against our spiritual enemy. When one of us falls down, or gets knocked down, we can lend a hand and help them back up on their feet again.
Life will throw much at us as believers, and those of us already being bullied by affliction and illness need to learn how to trust the Lord. We need to learn how to stand strong despite our weaknesses, and even put up a good spiritual fight.
Maybe you are being bullied by life this week. Maybe your illness has knocked you to the ground. I would encourage you to lean upon your brothers and sisters for support, and call upon the name of the Lord in your weakness and time of need. We have a “big brother” who can not only scare away our bullies, He can teach us how to fight against our enemy.
Do not back down from whatever is bullying you. You are stronger than you think. Ask Jesus to help you to fight against the things that are knocking you down.
Prayer: Dear Lord, life and people try to bully us and keep us down, help us to rise back up and fight the good fight of faith. Amen.
