“For this God is our God for ever and ever; He will be our guide even to the end” (Psalm 48:14).
One time I was lost and really concerned. Two friends and I set off for an early morning walk on the beach, not far from where we were staying. We knew the beach was just at the end of the road, so felt we could find our way back.
We’d just go along the beach for half and hour, then come back.
What we didn’t think about (because we were young and probably over-confident) was that once on the beach, it wasn’t easy to recognize where we’d come onto it. We hadn’t taken enough notice.
We ended up walking past. When we realized we were lost, we decided we needed to get off the beach and try to find our way to the hotel another way.
Luckily for us, we found the freeway we’d arrived on the previous night. So by walking along the side of it (even though not strictly legal) we were able to find our hotel. I’m not sure it hit me till afterwards just how dangerous this morning walk could have been. We were in another country and far from home, so anything could have happened.
Chronic illness brings lots of challenges to our lives. We need a good guide to get through life and this Psalm promises that God will be our guide–even to the end.
When we have no idea how we will get through the chaos that lies ahead, the fear of what may or may not happen, we have a guide who will bring us through to the end. He will be there all through our life, and if we have accepted Him as our Savior we will one day be face to face with Him in eternity.
This God is our God–forever. What a promise to hold on to!
Prayer: Father God, I’m grateful that You were watching over us that day on the beach and I’m grateful You promise to guide me and each one who reads this today. Life with illness may seem confusing, but thank You that we are never lost with You. Amen.

Have you ever been lost? Does knowing God will guide you through the challenges of chronic illness, make it easier to face each new day?
Fiona thought this song would be a blessing for you today! It is Matt Redman singing “O This God.” We hope it reminds you of how God does want to guide us. He grieves when He sees us making a bad turn or feeling confused about decisions we need to make–without even asking Him to help guide us. Hoping it blesses you today. -Lisa
