How and Why Should We Refresh Others?

refreshYou don’t have to have your life together or always be a cheerful person in order to refresh others. Shelly shares.

“A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed” (Proverbs 11:25).

A smile for an often-invisible worker or clerk . . .

A happy tone, or a “God Bless You” to a telemarketer . . .

A bright and hopeful “thinking of you” arriving in a mailbox . . .

A ten-minute phone call with a person who is lonely . . .

An acceptance of help from a friend who’s been offering . . .

A sweet, chatty email sprinkled with fun images . . .

An honest, “How are you?” to the person at the drive-through . . .

Paying for the person in line behind you . . .

A heartfelt gift arriving just in time . . .

Laughing on Skype . . .

Praying together in a text . . .

Asking and then truly listening, no matter how long it takes . . .

Saying, “Me, too.”

A friendship like yours . . .

It can make all the difference.

You are a swig of iced lemonade. That first gust of air-conditioned air. The smell of a refreshing rain in the near future. A dip in the pool on a stifling day.

Reaching that tiny bit of shade just as a breeze stirs the leaves.

Let’s get out there and refresh others. I know we’ll be surprised at how we are refreshed in return.

Prayer:Dear God, thank You for friends who refresh. Thank You for strangers who do the same. Help us to remember how big of a difference the little things make, in our lives as well as others’. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Shelly asked me to share this video, “Extraxtraordinary” by More Than Rubies. A beautiful song to go with a thought-provoking devotional on how easily we can change the lives of those around us. -Lisa

This is an image that we shared for Invisible Illness Awareness Week on our Facebook page last week. Between our 2 sites we reached 416,000 people. Wow! A little grace and kindness really is desired by all! Interestingly, our Rest Ministries FB page just reached 11,000 people while our Invisible Illness Awareness Week Facebook page reached over 411,000. -Lisa
