Did You Know You Were Made For Something Better?

imageDoes God have something better planned for you than today’s circumstances? Karlton shares.

”If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you” (John 15:19).

I was having a rough morning with too little sleep, and too much activity for my CFS and other illnesses, which left me beyond exhausted. As I lay back in my chair in misery the image of my brother as a pallbearer carrying me in a casket at my funeral came into my mind. Not a cheerful thought at such a time! Yet I know that will one day be the case.

Is that all we are made for? Are we destined to merely live in pain and misery awaiting that day when six strong men carry us away at our funeral? Life would be unbearable indeed if that were the case.

Can you imagine if the gospels ended at Jesus being carried into His tomb? Not much of a story if that were the end of it. Yet like Jesus, in an explosion of glory and power we will kick the doors off of our tombs and shout for the world to hear, praising His Holy name!

You were destined for more than a life of hardship then a cold tomb. Your story doesn’t end at the graveside. You may not have had such a great life, but if you are a believer in Jesus, you are going to have a great ending.

We may not have been much to speak of or even to look at in life–weak, sickly, miserable. Yet, glory is coming, and we are returning with Christ in an awesome state that will astound those who knew us in this life.

Something better is coming for you and me. We need to only faithfully trust our Lord and Savior, counting on Him to fulfill His promise of eternal life to everyone who believes in His Name. Keep believing brothers and sisters. Something better is coming.

Prayer: Dear Lord, this life is at times terrible to endure, suffering one hard day after another. It would be hopeless if not for Your promises to us for better things to come. Thank You, Lord. Amen.

Karlton Douglas lives in Ohio with his lovely wife. He is thankful for the Lord who has given him eternal life.

Have you dared to hope for something better? When you imagine “something better” than today do you also see a better future here on earth, or do you cling to heaven?

This song “More Than You Think I Am” with Danny Gokey shares how God is more than we can even imagine. Because He is our creator, our Father, and our caregiver, we too are more precious than we can believe we are. Don’t give up on a better day here on earth, but when life slams you over and over and you become afraid to hope, you can always know that Heaven is for real and our best days on earth won’t even compare. -Lisa
