God Empowers the Little . . And Pink Balloons

littleWhat you can offer may seem like little, but you never know how God will use your obedience to follow His promptings. Kerryn shares.

“But Jesus called the children to Him and said, ‘Let the little children come to Me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these'” (Luke 18:16).

One of the little things I do is sending out a Bible verse text three times per week to friends and family.

Recently I questioned God about sending out the verse above. Was this really the one He wanted?

Within the hour a message arrived to say how incredibly timely and pertinent this verse was for a friend of mine. Just moments after reading it she had received a friend’s tough phone call.

I don’t know any more about that situation, but I do know that God timed events to really encourage and prepare others. I may never know what ensued from that. It’s not for me to know, just trust Him to lead me.

Yet our human nature is to question and wonder if we’re hearing God right, doing what He wants, really following Him obediently. I do it often!

Over twenty years ago I was sending a birthday card to a friend’s two-year-0ld daughter. At the last moment I was prompted to add in a pink balloon. I hunted and eventually found one to add to the card, though I did question God about it!

A couple of days later my friend phoned, teary and excited. Her little daughter had been praying for God to send her a pink balloon in the mail for her birthday. She had no doubt it would arrive, as she waited for the mail man. However, the mother was wondering how God would do this. That young woman is now doing much for the Lord and often recalls the pink balloon, as I do.

A mighty lesson through a little child with faith and a little prompt from God.

There are many testimonies about the smallest prompt, obediently followed, leading to events that have literally changed thousands of lives.

Prayer: Lord, help us to listen to Your little prompts. Help us to trust You to empower the little things we do for You. Build lives through us. Amen.

What little thing have you done in the past that has been empowered by God? How does that encourage you to be used by God? What little thing is God prompting you about right now?
