Do You Really Believe God is Faithful?

faithfulDo you trust in God’s love or are you hearing your doubts? Julie explains.

“Then I heard a loud voice in heaven say: ‘Now have come the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God, and the authority of his Messiah. For the accuser of our brothers and sisters, who accuses them before our God day and night, has been hurled down'” (Revelation 12:10).

We recently had an unfortunate situation with our next-door neighbors. Someone in the neighborhood wrote them a very nasty anonymous letter and put it in their mailbox. Because one of their kids said the person came from our direction, they accused us of doing it. Even though we told them we did not do it, their actions show that they don’t believe us. Unfortunately, it seems to be damaging our relationship.

Being accused of something you did not do can be devastating. Satan is the ultimate accuser, and not only is he accusing us of things before God, he would like us to accuse God of things He does not do.

Because of your illness, have you ever accused God of not loving you? Of not caring what you are going through? Even though He tells you over and over again in His Word, do your actions always show that you believe Him?

This is exactly what Satan wants, because it will damage your relationship with God. When you think such thoughts, recognize where they are coming from. Go to places in the Bible where God is telling you He loves and cares for you.

Psalm 136:26 says, “Give thanks to the God of heaven. His love endures forever.”

In 1 John 3:1 we read, “See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!”

Will you believe Him . . . or will you let the accusations damage your relationship?

Prayer: Oh, Lord God, You have tried to tell me many times in Your Word how much You love and care for me. Help my unbelief! In times of distress, help me to remember where accusations of You not caring are coming from. Thank You for assuring me how much You love me. Amen.

Can you think of verses that prove God loves and cares for you? Can you memorize those verses for times when you are having trouble believing it?

This is one of my favorite versions of the hymn “Blessed Assurance”–with Alan Jackson. Even if you are not a country fan I hope this arrangement and the simpleness of just a man and his guitar singing about Jesus will remind you of how He does assure us of his presence every day. But we must also look for it. I try my best to do this but falter so many times. -Lisa
