God Hasn’t Forgotten Us–God’s Got This

gods-got-thisDo you ever need reminded that God has got your situation in His hands? Fiona shares.

“But blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in Him. He will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit” (Jeremiah 17:7-8).

A friend recently lost her job. She’s not sure she even wants to return to the same field now. After many years in a job, it’s hard being told you’re not needed anymore. It puts a dent in your self-confidence and you might begin questioning many things.

She’s just waiting–waiting for the right job to come along, for some direction towards what’s next, and in the meantime–living in a kind of limbo. It’s hard to make plans–she doesn’t know what she’ll be doing. Even enjoying the “free time” she has currently, can seem, she’s wasting it.

People we sit with in church know what’s going on and ask from week to week if anything’s happened. When not much has, or something hasn’t turned out as hoped, they encourage her by reminding her–God’s got this. He will reveal the next steps in His time.

While there’s comfort in that and we know and believe that God’s got a plan for our lives–it can still be hard in the waiting.

Recently one of the couples said “when you’re waiting–just remember that God hasn’t forgotten you.”

I hope she found it encouraging. It caused me to think about how our expectations and God’s plans for us, can often be poles apart. We’d like God to answer now and often in just the way we want Him to! But God knows better.

With hindsight, we can often see how His timing was just right and the answer we were looking for, may not have been what was best for us.

Verse 7 (NLT) talks about those who trust in the Lord having made Him their hope and confidence. That’s what we need to hold on to in the face of uncertainty, change, or even chronic illness.

Prayer: Father God, whatever uncertainty or waiting our lives bring, help us to trust in You. As we cling to what we know and believe, keep our hope and confidence in you. Thank You too, for those who come alongside us and remind us that “God’s got this” when times are hard. Amen.

Do you find it hard to wait? What helps you continue to trust, while you are waiting?

This is Michael W. Smith singing “Christ Be All Around Me.” Fiona thought you may enjoy this beautiful song. “I liked the reminder in this song – that Christ is all around us – for every moment,” she shares. It is a good reminder that He is there and waiting for us to turn to Him for strength. He can give peace in the worst of times that we can’t even comprehend. -Lisa
