No matter our imperfections we can always know God claims us. Becky shares.
“But now, this is what the Lord says–He who created you, Jacob, He who formed you, Israel, ‘Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are Mine’” (Isaiah 43:1).
As a child my sister and I were blessed with many things. The biggest blessing was loving parents who loved God.
I recall a day when I stepped out of a store holding a new plush Minnie Mouse toy. My sister, who was less than two years old, had her new hard plastic Mickey. Our parents were surprised she picked something hard, but she loved that Mickey.
While we were still in the store, we noticed Mickey had two of the same arm!
Mom and dad offered to go and exchange him. No! She refused. The hard, imperfect toy was hers. There would be no replacement. She loved it.
Her love for this simple gift was not blind.
She knew it. It was hers!
My little sister’s love for her imperfect doll reminds me that God loves me knowing me fully–imperfections, illness, and all. His love is not blind. God calls us by name. We are His if we turn to Him.
God is Creator. He never makes mistakes. He is the giver of life. A life is of value in God’s eyes. Let us courageously love the imperfect and the families that are theirs for God has chosen to love us as well.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, You know how many times I try to make my identity out of my imperfections, my illness, my accomplishments. You are the One who gives me my identity. Please give me the grace to accept the words You speak of me. In Your Name, Amen.
