Who Are You Going to Call When in Trouble?

When facing trouble or deep. Pain, do you cry out for God, or just cry out? Pamela explains.

“For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet He did not sin. Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need” (Hebrews 4:15-16).

I needed to talk to someone–anyone–but every number I called was answered by voice mail or recorder wanting me to leave a message. Anxiety was growing and I had started to cry. The pain down my leg, reaching to my toes, was unbearable.

I collapsed on the bedroom floor and cried out “Jesus help me!”

What started out as a pronouncement of my pain soon turned into a precious and holy moment when Jesus did just that. He began to help me. My sobbing began to wane and I started taking slow deep breaths, each one bringing me a deeper measure of peace and calm.

God had heard my cry for help and He hears your cry for help.

Over time the urgency to grab the phone and call someone, anyone, decreased. In its place was an unspoken invitation to meet with God. He’s inviting you to meet with Him too. In our weakness He wants us to know how much He cares for you and me.

Now when I am in pain, scared or anxious I look forward to dropping to my knees and collapsing on my bedroom floor. No, I don’t look forward to the pain that drives me there, but I now know there is One who is always there for me.

When I cry out “Jesus help me!” I will never be met with a voice mail or recorded message.

Prayer: Father thank You that You understand how weak and frail we are and You invite us to come to You so that we can receive grace and find Your mercy in our time of need. Thank You for being there for me whenever I call whether to praise You for Your goodness or to cry out in despair. Thank You for teaching me that I can trust You in every circumstance. I love You, Lord. Amen.
