If you are wishing you had more money to spend on gifts, Shelly’s reminder will encourage you.
“And when he had taken it, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb. Each one had a harp and they were holding golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of God’s people” (Revelation 5:8).
In this life, and most especially in this season of giving, it is so easy to feel we have nothing of value to give.
So many of us stretch our finances to the breaking point just to keep a roof over our heads and food in our bellies. We worry each month whether or not we’ll be able to afford the medications and doctor visits that are required to maintain our health.
How do we then find a way to give to others in any way that is valuable?
Did you realize that God–our God–the one who crafted the universe and holds all things by His power.. . . yes, that God. . . He treasures your prayers as incense in golden bowls. They are carried in reverence by the elders who fall down before the lamb. They are presented as worship to the music of harps.
Let that sink in, Dear One.
There is no greater, more valuable, or more impressive gift you can offer to anyone than the gift of sending their name before the Father and Son in this way. You have such extravagance to offer this season and every season. Did you know it?
Prayer: Holy God, help us to focus on what really matters this Christmas. We are humbled that You value so richly something that comes from us. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

How will you give gifts that really matters this year?
One of my favorite musical groups this year is Pentatonix, an accapella group that can give you goosebumps with their amazing sounds. Shelly thought you may like this beautiful rendition of them singing “Little Drummer Boy.” God bless, -Lisa
