Do You Have Fountain Of Blessings?

water2When you consider a fountain flowing into your life, what it the image? Kerryn share of Living Water.

“In that day the mountains will drip new wine, and the hills will flow with milk; all the ravines of Judah will run with water. A fountain will flow out of the Lord’s house and will water the valley of acacias” (Joel 3:18).

What a beautiful image!

What stands out for you?

I loved the adjectives of “drip,” “flow,” and “run” giving that sense of abundance, freedom, and joy. Next I was drawn to the images of water, especially of the fountain that “will flow out of the Lord’s house.” What an image of blessing!

A discussion about fountains in the Rest Ministries’ Sunroom led me to Joel 3. In my Bible this verse is under the heading of “Blessings for God’s People.”
There’s something refreshing, cooling, and relaxing about a fountain and running water. Many people have them in their gardens these days. They’ve become very trendy in both the interior and exterior of house designs.

People seem to crave running water without even realizing that the source of it is Jesus, the Living Water. I too crave flowing water of waves, waterfalls, streams, rivers, fountains, and water features. If I can’t spend time near the real thing, then photos help me.

For years I’ve wanted a water feature in our garden. Before I was ill it would have been a very sleek, smooth, and perfect-looking feature. However, since illnesses, I’m drawn to cracked earthenware pots that have been turned into water features. I especially love a group of cracked pots flowing down through each other.

Often chronic invisible illnesses make us feel like cracked pots. However, because we’re filled with the Living Water, it flows through our cracks to others to calm and soothe their thirsty souls. I love that image of being worthless in it’s former form, but then transformed into a Life-giving water feature.

In the same way, God is transforming us into new creations to be poured forth from His Living Water for others. What a refreshing thought!

Prayer: Lord, take this cracked pot of my body and pour forth Your Living Water. Refresh those parts of me that are dry. May Your Living Water overflow through me to soothe others. Amen.

What sort of water feature would you choose and why?

Speaking of water, this song, “The Water’s Edge” by Aaron Barnhart is an awesome reminder of how water can draw us to God. I always head for the ocean when I am needing to remember that the world has little power, but God covers the earth with His seas that no one can overpower. I hope this song blesses you, as it sings of being washed clean by the waves and starting all over again. -Lisa
