When we the last time you assumed God had something new–and good–planned for you? Linda explains.
“See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland” (Isaiah 43:19).
Sometimes it feels like you are all alone living in the wilderness. Dealing with continued chronic illness can become overwhelming. You can easily begin to feel like there is no hope; you learn the prognosis isn’t promising. Doubt and fear can creep in as you think about the ramifications of what your illness means to yourself and your family. You feel lost and alone.
Don’t give up! Don’t let your circumstances rob you of your hope and peace. God is at work He is doing something new in you. It is the times we spend alone with God in the wilderness that we grow closer to Him, it is where our faith and joy grows.
I have been through a time of walking in the wilderness, but I can honestly say while it has been hard I wouldn’t change anything. Over the last few months my faith has grown as I have relied on the promise in this verse.
God is doing something new in me. Worry and fear are replaced with everlasting joy and gladness. Take heart God is at work and something good is going to happen.
Prayer: Lord, there are many who feel they are all alone. They feel lost wandering in the wilderness with no hope. Surround them with your love and peace and let them see that You are doing a new work in them. You are going to use whatever the situation is to bring about something good that will bless not only them, but those who are watching how they respond to the problems they face. Thank You for Your love for us. Amen.
About the author:
Linda Aufrance lives in Phoenix and has lived with MS, lupus, diabetes and several other diseases since 1984. She is supported by a wonderful husband of 40 years, 2 adult children and the light of her life 3 beautiful grandchildren. She is also blessed to be part of a church that surrounds her with love and care. Linda’s desire is that while she deals with multiple illnesses others will see her love for the Lord and know He is where her strength and hope comes from.
Linda especially loves the song, “I Just Feel Like Something Good Is About To Happen” with the Gaithers. My mom used to play this song a lot, so I immediately knew what song she was talking about.
Oh, what a delight. This video is pretty dated, but look at the audience and those singing. Don’t they look joyful? We need more songs like this that remind us of God’s plans for us here on earth. Sometimes when we are ill we start feeling bitter, that earth is all about endurance. But God wants us to have moments of joy and expectations of life here too! -Lisa
