When You Feel Like God Isn’t Using You

usingWhen it feels like God isn’t using you, Diane reminds us to ask Him.

“The eye cannot say to the hand ‘I don’t need you!’ and the head cannot say to the feet, ‘I don’t need you!’” (1 Corinthians 12:21).

Are you ever frustrated with your lack of being needed; or in participation of ministries, while dealing with chronic illness?

I’m not talking about doing those major events we read about, like running a 5K marathon at Disney world for cancer research or leading a women’s conference on inner healing.

I’m speaking about those things on a much smaller scale–like going to listen to a speaker on evangelism, hoping to hear some new way to inspire others. Perhaps to help with Vacation Bible School to reach out to the children in your community.

I know at certain times I get frustrated with myself. I want to attend certain events or be able to join in outreach events. But because of my illness, I know it is an impossibility.

In my own eyes I see myself as being weak, lacking functionality. Then, the other day, as I was reading this precious verse, my hope was renewed. I knew God was telling me it doesn’t matter to Him the extent of my abilities, in fact, it is because of them that I can be a tool for Him.

So I prayed, “Lord, show me how You can use me right here, in my very own neighborhood, and community.” You know what? He did just that!

Prayer: Father, help us each to realize we are needed in Your body, open our eyes so we can see You working right outside our door. Thank You for letting us join You. Amen.

This is Lacey Sturm singing “The Reason.” I heard her for the first time recently on the Billy Graham My Hope America special where she shares her testimony of depression and more. This song has some heartfelt lyrics as she sings about how we spend our live searching for what we are meant to do or be –and how what we need to discover is that what we were meant to be was. . . His. -Lisa

You can see Lacey’s testimony here from the Billy Graham special. It is about 6 minutes and I think it will touch your heart. I know it did mine. -Lisa

You can see this Billy Graham special here. It is about 30 minutes.
