Celebrate! You Have a Huge Inheritance!

inheritanceConsider how you would be jumping up and down if you got a phone call today about an inheritance you had received. Lisa explains.

“This inheritance is kept in heaven for you” (1 Peter 1:3).

Have you noticed this world isn’t perfect? It is hardly even comfortable. We struggle, we fight to have a better life and leave our children with a better life than we had.

Have you ever lost someone you loved, and then discovered you were left an unexpected inheritance of some kind? It may have been a financial gift or a sentimental item you would treasure. Consider the joy you felt when you discovered that in the midst if your pain there was something to cling to that brought delight.

This is what God has done for us and yet He doesn’t withhold what the gift is–it is everlasting life! Throughout the Bible we are told of how we are heirs of God, alongside His son, Jesus. Our inheritance is ready for us and the details are being prepared.

Our inheritance is more than we could ever ask for–so much so that we cannot fathom the details. Even if we read the Word and look forward to the roads paved with gold, the feeling we will experience is one we cannot comprehend. Those who have felt like they have had a heaven experience feel at a loss to describe the emotion behind it, the joy and peace.

Regardless of what your situation or struggle is today, don’t think about it. Instead, think of the inheritance you are going to receive. Unlike earthly inheritances, it will truly solve all your problems, take away all your worries, and even give you joy you have never even experienced here on earth.

Prayer: Jesus, help me focus on You and how You have promised to give me an eternal home where I will be in Your presence forever. As I consider Your inheritance let my earthly problems shrink in their impact on me. Amen.

It is easy to think of heaven as a distant vacation we may get to take in a few decades if we are lucky. How does your outlook change when you consider it is an inheritance of a life with no troubles you are guaranteed?

When you realize you have this huge inheritance the first thing that should come to your mind is how you can share it? I love this song, “Send Me Out” with Fee. What are you doing with the blessings God has given you? Are you burying it in the backyard or sharing it with others? Don’t be afraid to ask God to send you out! He knows what you are able to do and he knows all about your illness. Do you trust Him enough to ask Him to take you out of your safe zone? -Lisa
