What is God’s Term of Endearment for You?

endearmentDid you know God’s endearment for you is so personal He gives you a pet name? Diane shares.

“Do not be afraid little flock, for your Father has been pleased to give you the Kingdom” (Luke 12:32)

Have you ever had a pet name given to you or that you’ve given to someone you love? Often those terms of endearment are fabricated from some individual characteristic or it can be from a shared experience. You know the ones–like “Sticks” if you played the drums like my son, or “Beeper” which we called my daughter who often sounded like the character on Muppets when she was little (much to her chagrin).

Have you ever thought about what God’s pet name for you might be? I had not ever given it much thought until recently. I learned that the literal Greek translation in Luke 12:32 of the phrase “little flock” would have been “little, little flock” and was interpreted as an endearment of a shepherd and his flock.

As I dwelled on this, I imagined Jesus speaking just to me in that quite tone of His; looking at me with those loving eyes, saying; “Come hear little, little one, hold My hand, let’s walk together today. I know it may be a tough day of pain or stress for you, but together we can do it, for you are part of My precious ‘little, little flock.'”

Today, my dear friends, listen closely, for our Father in Heaven has a term of endearment just for you. One He has chosen to express His unconditional, everlasting love for you. He created it to bring to remembrance all of the special moments you have shared together; to give you strength on those difficult days, granting you peace beyond all understanding, as He speaks it to you.

Prayer: Father, as we sit in your presence, let us each hear Your sweet voice speaking to us individually the name You have chosen for us. Let us remember all the moments that we have shared with You, and allow them to give us strength as we walk with You through each day. Thank You. Amen and Amen.
