“The Lord, the God of their ancestors, sent word to them through His messengers again and again, because He had pity on his people and on His dwelling place.” (2 Chronicles 36:15)
So it happens to me all the time. And I’m sure if it’s happening to me, it’s happening to you, too. Chances are good.
I keep forgetting. I forget that I am beloved. I forget that my joy is to be found in Him. I forget that I matter, no matter what. I forget that I am not my illness.
This bleak winter has made it hard to remember what green looks like. Or yellow. Or blue. I forget that real beauty exists in every season. I forget to see it.
Sometimes I forget to take care of myself. I forget that resting is important work. I forget that prayer is powerful, and how to wield it.
The good news? I have a Father who doesn’t mind reminding me again and again. He never forgets, even when I do.
He sends sweet reminders in warm ways that make me smile and whisper, “I know that was You.” He sends loud clanging reminders that bring me to attention. Or sometimes He just keeps me in one spot until I finally look up and recognize the reminder I’ve been missing all this time.
One of my most-loved lines in one of my favorite songs, “These Hard Times,” references how we want God to show us something gorgeous until our eyes become tired. (See the video below.)
Prayer: Heavenly Father, please just keep showing me. Keep reminding me, and make me more mindful. Thank You for each tiny blessing. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

What kind of things do you forget and how does God remind you?
Shelly wanted to share the song she referenced above, “These Hard Times” by NeedtoBreathe (yep, that is the name of the group!). How many times have you asked God to give you an answer to believe in the hard times? This is what this song speaks of and I am so glad Shelly introduced me to this song! -Lisa
