How to You Find Balance When Life Throws You Off?

balanceWhat do you do when the stress of illness sends your life tumbling out of balance? Diane explains.

“When I said, ‘My foot is slipping’ Your unfailing love, Lord, supported me. When anxiety was great within me, Your consolation brought me joy.” (Psalm 94:18-19)

Have you ever had the experience of stepping on a slippery path or rock as you were walking in the great outdoors? And as soon as you did you felt yourself loosing balance–knowing right at that instant–this is not going to end well!? As you continue to slip, you’re grasping at anything to stay upright, but to no avail.

Recently things have been that way a lot for me, only I don’t even need a slippery surface, as my ability balance is not working to well. But that is not my point here.

My thought is that often we don’t need a slippery surface to feel this unbalance. It can be caused by the anxieties and struggles in our lives, from illnesses and their symptoms, financial woes, or the constant battle just to maintain a somewhat “normal” life with chronic illness or care giving.

However the up side of this is that our Lord is already there in His unfailing love right beside us, supporting us and catching us as we teeter totter around. He is who–and wha–we can grasp onto when we experience those anxious feelings, and with His love and compassion He will comfort us, He can console us with unexplainable joy, even when we are struggling with the imbalances of life.

Prayer: Father, thank You for the love and compassion that You pour upon us each day. Thank You, that when our lives are causing us to be off balance that we can cling to You. We can know that You are always there to catch us and steady us on this path You have set before us. May we give You the glory for all that You do in our lives. Amen.

Having trouble finding some balance–especially at this time of the year? It wouldn’t be Christmas without hearing the Christmas story from Linus. I hope you are reminded that this is what really matters. -Lisa
