God sends us messengers frequently that remind us of His love. Welcome back to our devotional writer, Ramona, who shares about her recent messenger.
“Remember my affliction and my wandering, the bitterness and the gall. I well remember them, and my soul is downcast within me. Yet this I call to mind and therefore I have hope: Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.”(Lamentations 3:19-23)
Weary and suffering severe migraine pain I rode the hotel elevator up to my room. I was visiting Dallas to see yet another “specialist.” My solitude was interrupted when the elevator opened to allow a man to enter. He looked to be about my age and was dressed conservatively in a suit and tie. Probably at the hotel for the Christian conference I surmised.
Forcing myself to smile I asked which floor he would like. Dutifully I pressed the corresponding button and attempted small talk about the weather. Looking at the floor I immediately felt the fatigue pressing in from all sides. In a quiet and understanding voice the man commented: “Tired, huh?”
Faltering I said a shaky “Yes.” Raising my eyes to meet his I saw such compassion and warmth. Soon the elevator door opened and I reluctantly stepped off on my floor. Turning to face him we held each other’s gaze while the doors closed.
I can’t explain it but I knew at that moment that God had just sent His love to me.
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, Thank You for using that man to send Your love to me today. I will never forget Your holy messenger. Amen.
