Devotional Update

Hi, friends. Happy summer!

Just a note from me (Lisa) to let you know I apologize for the sporadic devotionals this week. I haven’t had enough to post (I think all our writers are either busy with summer or suffering silently); and I’ve been trying to write them from my son’s golf camp, but then have had computer issues posting them. It seems I’ve been either going full-steam with my son with summer activities or collapsing.

And yesterday I picked up something heavy and pulled my shoulder slightly out of the socket. I saw the doctor last time it happened, and he said to ice, take meds, etc. My rheumatoid arthritis has eaten away a lot of my socket area so it slips rather easily. But it is one of the most painful occurrences with RA that I have experienced and means no sleeping at night either. So, I am in “survival” mode for a few days until it falls back into place.

Please know how much I appreciate each of you, your comments, and encouragement to one another. Next week my son will be at day camp and I hope to get caught up as well as let you in on all the updates about Invisible Illness Awareness Week (which Rest Ministries founded in 2002).

Many blessings to you and try to stay cool.

  1. Hey Lisa, no need for apologies….I am thankful for any devotionals from you…they are ALL so encouraging. So glad you got to be with your son at golf camp. I remember all the hot days I struggled to follow my son around the courses in a golf cart when he played on the golf team for his high school..but it was all worth it after he received a scholarship to play at the University of Montevallo and was captain of his team for 3 of the 4 years. Sometimes I could hardly get in the car to travel to the next state to watch him play, but the good Lord helped me to never miss a tournament and I’m so thankful for those memories. I think these kind of sweet memories might mean a little more to some of us with these horrible illnesses we have to battle, to be there…but God is so good and has always come through for me.
I’m so sorry you are having so much trouble with your shoulder…..I’m praying for you. I had to have mine injected this week (Lupus), but I can’t imagine it being out of place…..I pray you are better soon! Thank you again for all your kind inspirations to us!! Blessings, Karen

  2. Hi Lisa, I would love to write devotionals, in fact I have several partially completed things I have written, I just need to get focused, (not easy, lol) and get them finished. I have posted some and some poems.

  3. I am so sorry for your pain that you are going through & I pray that God will give you speedy recovery from the pain. I too am going through a lot of pain w/ my back & fibro & know all to well what it is like trying to take care of a child & other responsibilities when in pain. May God Bless! PS God Bless you for your ministry!!!
