Jesus is My Guiding Light Through The Struggles

“Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.” (Ephesians 4:29)

Conversations with people, who have not found God’s saving grace through Jesus, regarding life’s trials can often lead to”, “When all hope is lost. . .”

These quotations are their way of rationalizing their failures or trials into little boxes that compartmentalize each situation.

God doesn’t want us to have a hopeless, so be it, outlook on life. When Jesus came to earth, lived, died and rose again, he gave us freedom and direction. Our direction is in the written Word of God, which, oddly enough is even quoted by the “unsaved.” Quotes such as “Do unto others” or “Am I my brother’s keeper?”

God’s Word, when quoted in the correct context and by the leading of the Holy Spirit, can build us up, and encourage us to help us press on towards God’s best for us.

Isaiah 41:10 says “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.”

Whatever we need in the way of encouragement to “press on” can be found in God’s Word. Psalm 119:105 tells us Your Word is a lamp to my feet. There is your guiding light!

Prayer: Lord when I find myself wandering around in circles looking for direction and I cannot see the road ahead, help me to turn to Your Word for the encouragement and direction I need to follow You. Thank you Jesus, Amen.

Is scripture your guiding light? Sometimes we become distracted with other things in our life to encourage us, which is okay to a point. But does it ever take the place of God’s Word in your life?
