Looking For a Friend Who Needs Our Help Getting Up

“A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.” (Proverbs 17:17)

I am the older brother of a younger brother and a younger sister. While growing up I was always the one responsible for them, and if they got into trouble, so did I. We were close in age and often got into trouble together. Yet there were times I was able to steer my younger siblings away from trouble, or to get them out of trouble.

We need each other. We are all brothers and sisters in Christ. When one of us falls down, someone should be there to help them back up again. But sadly, too many hurting Christians do not feel the support or find the help they need when in difficult circumstances. There are those who fall down and have no one to pick them back up again.

Hurting Christians are all around us, sometimes they are hard to see because we all tend to wear masks hiding our true feelings, but if you look hard enough, or pry that mask off just a bit, very often you will find a suffering Christian beneath it.

I encourage you to be on the lookout for hurting brothers and sisters in Christ. Seek ways to help those who are suffering. And when you are hurting, don’t be afraid to put aside your mask and let your fellow Christians encourage you and pick you up.

Prayer: Dear Lord, help us to be sensitive to those who are hurting, and help us to be willing to share our pain with others as well. Amen.

  1. Hello , my name is Diana Sullivan. I live in physical and emotional pain since 1983, 28 yrs. It all started after a serve car wreck, A double transfer truck ran us over myself, my daughter and her friend. My daughter has facial scares, her friend ended up without any scares.
