Remembering Mercy Even When Feeling Crummy

By God's Grace

“. . .And then he told me, My grace is enough; it’s all you need. My strength comes into its own in your weakness. Once I heard that, I was glad to let it happen. I quit focusing on the handicap and began appreciating the gift. It was a case of Christ’s strength moving in on my weakness.” (2 Corinthians 12:9-10, The Message)

Do you ever feel like the more you try and do, the farther behind you are? It seems like most days lately have been like that. The more I do, the more there is to do, the longer the list, and I accomplish less and less. It is so easy to become discouraged when this is the path your days are taking.

The last couple of months have been rough in all areas – physically, emotionally, and even spiritually. It has been impossible to get a handle on any area so I begin to feel overwhelmed and wonder if there will ever be a time of true joy and happiness again in my life. Then I read the verse above and I am reminded that His grace is enough! It is all I need. It will see me through the dark and hard times. Grace. . . God’s loving kindness and mercy is all I need.

James 4 reminds me that what He gives in love is far better than anything else I will find.

Verses 7 & 8 say “So let God work His will in you. Yell a loud no to the Devil and watch him scamper. Say a quiet yes to God and he’ll be there in no time”

Today I choose to say YES! I know that God is with me. I may not understand all that is going on or see the reason or purpose behind the pain and disappointments but God’s grace will see me through.

The Message puts it like this “Now I take limitations in stride, and with good cheer, these limitations that cut me down to size-abuse, accidents, opposition, bad breaks. I just let Christ take over! And so the weaker I get, the stronger I become.”

Prayer: Thank you God for your grace for me, your unmerited love and favor, which even though I have done nothing to deserve, You so freely give to me and to everyone who will receive it. Lord, please help me let your grace shine in my life no matter what the circumstances so that others will see, and they, too, will say that quiet “Yes” to you.
