“In God, whose word I praise, in the Lord, whose word I praise-in God I trust; I will not be afraid (Psalm 56:10-11a).

Life sometimes just stinks. Heartache, pain, illness, and suffering seem like a one-way trip off a rocky cliff.

As troubles continue, depressing thoughts and emotions swirl in despair and anxiety.(Whimper.)

Fortunately, there is always a light at the end of the tunnel. Regardless of the circumstances, hope exists. In the end the good guys win, and those who put their trust in Christ receive a happily-ever-after.

And to get through the problems of today, we are equipped with a safety device–Praise.

Praise really does work. It’s like a soul parachute that catches us as we fall and drives away the negatives.

I’ve pulled the praise rip cord many times during difficult seasons, and without fail I’ve received comfort and hope. Sometimes, praise brings a good, cleansing cry. Other times, gloom and doom is replaced with joy.

Praise provides reassurance as we nestle closer to God. Praise sends the demons of hell fleeing. And the best part — praise takes focus off the problems and back on almighty, healing, gracious, compassionate, restoring God. For nothing is impossible for God.

Rough times bringing you down? Pull the praise rip cord!

Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God. Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort. You have ordained praise because of your enemies, to silence the foe and the avenger. I will praise the Lord, who counsels me; even at night my heart instructs me. I call to the Lord, who is worthy of praise, and I am saved from my enemies. In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I will not be afraid. What can mortal man do to me? Let the righteous rejoice in the Lord and take refuge in him; let all the upright in heart praise him! Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Praise the Lord. (Ps 42:11 2Co 1:3 Ps 8:2 Ps 16:7 Ps 18:3 Ps 56:4 Ps 64:10 Ps 150:6)
